Alexander Wang’s SS17 capsule collection drops

Alexander Wang has unveiled his Spring/Summer 17 capsule collection.
The Taiwanese-American designer presented his latest range during New York Fashion Week in September (16) and has selected a range of 16 pieces to release as a new line, as part of his see-now buy-now initiative. The capsule collection launched online on Sunday (09Oct16) and hits shelves on Monday, featuring pieces such as ripped denim jackets, jeans and a new selection of T-shirts branded with the label’s logo in leopard print.
Wang himself has unveiled photos of the line on his Instagram page, such as one of a blonde model wearing a bikini top with high waisted trousers, a black belt and a small black bag in her hand.
“The Roxy tote in smooth black leather as seen in the Spring 2017 collection, is now available exclusively at the Beijing, Sanlitun store. Shop this style and more #WANGSS17bags at Shop 15-25, Building 3, No.11, Sanlitun Road, Chaoyang District,” he captioned the shot.
The designer also posted a photo of the same bag on the catwalk, along with an image of another neon yellow and pink style.
Another tote on offer is a shoulder wallet called the Riot, which has a crocodile embossed finish. Wang wrote on his Instagram page that the bag will be on offer exclusively at his New York City flagship store. Meanwhile, a tattoo-inspired embroidery version will be available at the London store only.
Speaking as part of Alina Cho’s The Atelier conversation series earlier this year, the star spoke about how he feels the industry is changing, especially in regards to the fashion calendar and deliveries.
“We explored every option: Are we going to change our fashion show? Are we going to do capsule collections every month?” he mused. “Buyers spend 70 percent of their budget on pre-collections; 80 percent of our business is wholesale, so we do depend a lot on buyers and what they want.”
